How To Create a Free CRM In Google Sheets

How To Create a Free CRM In Google Sheets?

If you already use Google Sheets, you might be wondering - how can you create a free CRM in Google Sheets?

Although Google Sheets doesn’t currently offer a built-in CRM, the good news is that it’s entirely possible to create a free CRM in Google Sheets.

And luckily, there are several ways to manage your contacts, tasks, sales, and more within Google Sheets.

You can either create your own CRM template with Google Sheets or download and use a premade Google Sheets CRM template.

How To Create a Free CRM In Google Sheets?

How To Create a Free CRM In Google Sheets?
  1. Build your free CRM manually by customizing the rows and columns of your sheet to represent customer data.

This is done by creating a new sheet, adding your contacts' names, details, lead status, priority, etc., as headers, and then inserting customer-related data into spreadsheet rows.

This could include contact names, lead details, inventory and transaction information, and any other relevant information you want to track and manage.

Although this is a sufficient (and free) basic way to use Google Sheets, it requires a lot of manual work and can be tedious and limiting unless you know what you’re doing.

In order to add automation and customization functionality to your Google Sheets CRM, you’ll need to know how to write an Apps Script.

      2. Use a Google Sheets CRM Template.

Although Google Sheets doesn’t technically have a CRM, you can use the platform as a Google Sheets CRM template.

There are many free Google Sheets CRM templates available for you to download and use. A quick Google search will bring up hundreds of options!

Here are some of my favorite choices:

  • Use a free (basic) CRM template within the Google Sheets template gallery.
  • Download a CRM template that integrates with Google Sheets from no-code tools like HubSpot, ActiveCampaign, or Smartsheet
  • Reach out to an expert like BetterSheets to have one built for you (not free).

By using these free CRM templates as the foundation of your CRM, you’ll reduce the amount of manual data entry work mentioned in the first method.

Typically, these templates can be customized by changing the pre-populated headers and data to match your sales process.

The downside of these templates is that they’re typically quite basic and limited. So, what if you want to create a fully functional CRM in Google Sheets? Is it possible?

Enter….. Sheetify CRM.

Google Sheets CRM Features - Sheetify CRM

Sheets CRM Features Sheetify CRM

I’ve talked a lot about how Sheetify CRM can transform how Google users operate and organize their business. But what exactly does Sheetify have to offer?

Sheetify CRM is so much more than a standard Google Sheets CRM template.

While Sheetify CRM makes managing your leads, contacts, and sales easy, it also offers many other features that allow you to take control of your entire business.

The best part is that these features are already integrated and set up within the template, so you don’t have to muck around with third-party integrations or Apps Scripts.

This is not possible with other Google CRM templates!

Some of these features include:

  • Product and service (inventory) management.
  • Lifetime customer tracking.
  • Customer ticket and invoice creation.
  • Purchase and transaction tracking.
  • Email marketing.
  • Sales pipeline.
  • Google Forms, Google Contacts, and Google Tasks
  • Client and sales task calendar.

Plus, the built-in sales dashboard tool lets you view and analyze key metrics like:

  • Team sales and performance.
  • Top-selling products or services.
  • Monthly revenue.
  • Items by status.
  • Sales search.

These features are completely customizable. And if you’d like something added to the product that’s specific to your brand, you can ask our expert team to create it for you.

Is a Spreadsheet a CRM Tool?

Technically speaking, yes! A spreadsheet tool like Google Sheets or Excel can function as a basic CRM tool as it can store, manage, manipulate, and analyze data.

However, while a basic spreadsheet is great for managing data, you can’t add advanced features like integrations, notifications, automation, and lead-capturing forms.

Unless……you write an Apps Script or use a more robust CRM tool like Sheetify CRM.

As I mentioned, Sheetify CRM was designed as an all-in-one business toolkit for small business owners.

This means even users with no experience can easily access contact management, sales tracking, email marketing, inventory, task management, and more!

So as you can see, there are multiple ways to create a free CRM in Google Sheets. The choice is now up to you!
